Uniqlo Mid-City, Emporium & Parramatta

XFrame worked with Uniqlo to deliver demountable fitting rooms across multiple Australian sites. The fitting rooms allowed Uniqlo to meet 'serge capacity' requirements across peak-seasons, and re-allocate capacity as required. Spaces were installed after-hours to minimise disruption to store operations and designed to integrate into the sites existing aesthetic.

Uniqlo, a global leader in fashion retail, required a high-quality, brand-consistent change room solution for its Sydney and Melbourne stores. Both sites had unique layouts, strict compliance requirements, and limited installation windows. The brief called for a solution that met Uniqlo’s exact specifications while delivering long-term flexibility, minimal waste, and zero disruption to trading.

XFrame delivered a modular, freestanding kit-of-parts system, precision-engineered to match Uniqlo’s dimensions, finishes, and compliance needs. The design used minimal fixings to the base building, reducing makegood obligations at lease end or reconfiguration of the change rooms. All components were pre-fabricated and cut to size off-site for clean, quiet assembly, with no nails or glue, ensuring every element can be reused or reconfigured.

Installations in both cities were completed after trading hours, allowing stores to remain open and fully operational. XFrame’s system enabled rapid installation within days, coordinated seamlessly with Uniqlo’s fit-out teams, and generated zero construction waste. Repairs to linings can be carried out quickly and inexpensively, maintaining a fresh appearance over time.

By adopting XFrame’s circular construction model, Uniqlo reduced material use by more than 30% compared to traditional methods. Every component is reusable, ensuring a long service life across multiple locations and significantly cutting waste. The project delivered on cost, speed, quality, flexibility, and sustainability — setting a new benchmark for adaptable retail fit-outs.

  • Prefabricated durable finishes - pre-cut off site - that included recessed mirrors were hung on flush-mounted XFrame 010 clips. These linings have no visible fixing hardware and can be removed when spaces need to be reconfigured.

  • Integrated lateral adjustment in the lining mounting system allowed seams to be neatly adjusted to cater for onsite variances and close up gaps between panels.

  • Wall heights, using the same standard kit of parts, were adapted between sites to meet fire regulations. Custom width panels were also adopted to ensure efficient use of space in smaller stores, and meet accessibility requirements.
